What is Compassion?
Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.  Our ministry is Christ focused, child centered, church based, and committed to integrity.

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training. Today, Compassion helps more than 1.2 million children in 26 countries.

What does Team Compassion raise money for?
When impoverished families in developing countries face various kinds of medical issues, they rarely have the resources to pay for a doctor visit, much less for treatment or surgery. The Medical Assistance Fund exists for these families, and it covers urgent health-related care for any child registered in Compassion's child sponsorship program. Whether financing a scheduled surgery or an emergency procedure, your contribution to the Medical Assistance Fund ensures that children in Compassion's care receive the medical treatment they need to return to normal health. And where there is health, there is hope.

What kind of event can I participate in to raise funds and awareness?
Any kind of event is accepted.  All forms of marathons, triathlons and similar competitive events are applicable. Whether you run, walk, bike or swim, you can create an opportunity to raise money for children in need.

How much should my fundraising goal be?
Setting your fundraising goal is a personal thing. We can’t tell you what number to type in the box, but we can tell you most folks aim for $1,500 to $2,500. So think about it, pray about it, and then set an achievable but realistic goal that’s right for you.

Can I take donations by check?
The easiest way to receive donations is online through your personal fundraising webpage. When donations are made online, your totals are automatically updated.

If you or a donor prefers to donate by check or cash, you can do so by sending a check to the following address. Be sure to include the name of the participant or team that you are supporting so we can credit the appropriate participant.
